Richard Pelcz
It would be no exaggeration to say that Richard Pelcz has dedicated his life to health, fitness, and physical wellness.
Richard’s journey began at the age of 10 when he started training in Judo. Shortly thereafter, Richard continued his foray into the martial arts by taking on Jiu-Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do. Over the next several years Richard cross-trained in numerous martial arts, but always maintained an interest in Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, and Tae Kwon Do. By the time he was graduating from high school Richard earned a blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do. As a young adult and avid martial artist, Richard began training and sparring with Muay Thai champion Simon Posner, learning the art of Muay Thai from one of Vancouver’s best instructors. To supplement his martial arts training, Richard began weight training, an activity he has been active in for over 20 years. The more Richard learned, the greater his desire for more knowledge became. This led him to begin training in boxing at the Astoria boxing club under the coaching of George Angelomatis. Soon Richard began competing in boxing, twice winning the prestigious golden glove championships. Richard competed in boxing for some time, but he soon realized that it was the desire to be physically fit and maintain the level of fitness he had reached that was the source of his motivation for competing. It was at this time that Richard switched his focus from competing to teaching. However, his motivation had stayed the same: physical fitness, health, and wellness. Richard managed and taught at 2 Tae kwon do clubs in Abbotsford and Surrey, clubs that are still open and successful today. Richard began adding numerous credentials to his already impressive knowledge of physical activity and martial arts. He went through, after carefully matching his own beliefs about fitness to their curriculum, the International Sports Sciences Association and became a fully certified personal trainer. Richard is always learning new things, updating skills, and taking new courses, to make him all the more effective and a well rounded fitness instructor, like sports nutrition and fitness rehabilitation just to name two. During this time Richard acquired an extensive teaching background, from teaching many styles of martial arts, to boxing, to weight training, to fitness classes, and everyone from individuals to groups of all sizes, from martial artists to everyday folks wanting a workout, from experts to amateurs, from elite athletes to expecting mothers, from first time fitness enthusiasts to seniors; Richard has taught them all. Richard’s knowledge of health and fitness, coupled with his extensive experience in many physical activities, make him an unparalleled expert in health and fitness.
Richard’s fitness formula is simple: take an eclectic variety of innovative techniques, mixed with proven and sound fitness principles and, you not only have the keys to overall health and fitness, but a leading edge fitness system. Using fundamental and beneficial fitness components from martial arts, boxing, kick boxing, basic gymnastics, weights, aerobic conditioning, plyometrics, core training, and assisted stretching, Richard creates an original fitness experience that can meet the unique fitness needs of all his patrons. Richard’s instruction is a culmination of over twenty years training experience and physical activity, a wealth of knowledge in athletics, fitness, martial arts, sports science, and health and nutrition, a keen interest and deep passion for health and wellness, and a unique and proven recipe for success that blends together the best of numerous styles and systems. Richard co-founded Contenders with Kevin Reynolds, who was once his opponent, then became his sparring partner, his training partner, and finally his business partner, to develop this system and bring to everyone concerned with health and fitness. Richard and Kevin have a high level of confidence in their system. But rather than make bold claims about their success rates, Kevin and Richard know that only results count. So, all they ask is that you come and try their system out, because they know that your results will speak for themselves. Once you try it, you’ll want to stay.
