Kevin Reynolds
Kevin Reynolds has been involved in boxing for most of his life. He began training in boxing at the age of thirteen and had his first competition just one year later. This was the beginning of a distinguished amateur career.
As an amateur competitor Kevin fought in over seventy fights, won a silver medal at the Canadian national Olympic boxing try-outs, and was a seven time Golden Glove champion. After a very successful amateur career, Kevin made the move to fight professionally. It did not take him long to distinguish himself as a top professional fighter. Since turning pro in 2005 Reynolds has enjoyed an incredible run of success winning 10 of 11 fights, six of those coming by either KO or TKO. Currently, Kevin is the number one ranked cruiser-weight in Canada and is next in line for a shot at the Canadian title against a title holder he has already defeated.
Over the course of his fighting career Kevin has had the pleasure of training and sparring with some of the best trainers and fighters the world over. Kevin’s first coach was former world kickboxing champion Lloyd Anderson. Kevin was also coached by Jerry Veerasammy, a person Reynolds says was instrumental in his development as a competitor. Currently Kevin’s trainer is Jesse Reid of Top Rank gym in Las Vegas. Reid is a world class trainer who has trained over 24 world champions. Being a member of Top Rank has afforded Kevin the opportunity to train and spar with some of the top fighters in the world, including IBF Champion Lucian Bute and WBC Champion Montel Griffin.
Kevin puts his heart into everything he does. But when it comes to boxing instruction, hard work alone is not enough to produce success. The key to success for Kevin as a boxing trainer was the top quality instruction he received. It was through this expert instruction that Kevin learned how to teach boxing efficiently and effectively, by breaking the techniques down into simple instructions and easy to learn steps. Additionally, Kevin has taken a little from the many great corner-men, coaches, mentors, and trainers he has had the good fortune to cross boxing paths with. This has helped Kevin develop a way to teach boxing that is very easy to learn and a lot of fun.
| I have had the opportunity to train with some of the most elite boxers in the world. As a result of these experiences I am now able to pass on the most effective techniques to progress the conditioning, boxing ability, and therefore, confidence of others. I have realized that the best training environments have one common thread; a combination of a competitive, challenging and supportive environment. This is the experience waiting for you at Contenders Training Studio. |
